Scheme for building
PA Wellington The Government is examining a scheme which would allow families to borrow from the Housing Corporation to build homes on multiple-owner Maori land. The scheme would avoid the need to partition and
therefore alienate ancestral land, said the Minister of Housing, Mr Goff. It started in Northland and East Cape, such a scheme would help improve the “often appalling” housing situation in those areas, he told a housing seminar in Lower Hutt.
