New head for Nelson College
The Christchurch Boys’ High School’s deputy principal will leave next term to become headmaster of the school he attended as a boy. Mr Tony Cooper has been deputy principal of Christchurch Boys’ High School for seven years. His new post is headmaster of Nelson College, one of the oldest State schools in New Zealand. It was founded in 1856 and has Form 1 to Form 7 pupils, including many boarders. Mr Cooper said he was looking forward to his move to Nelson as another challenge. “It is a natural step in my professional growth but I will miss the friendships, the boys, the staff and the school ’ community (at Christchurch Boys’ High School),” he said.
