Studying the weather
A start for Crown Star in today’s Beaufort Steeplechase was not certain yesterday. It’s all to do with the weather. “If there is a prospect of settled weather through till Saturday I’ll be tempted to keep him for the Grand National,” Crown Star’s owner-trainer, Ken Browne, said yesterday. If he takes Crown Star out of the Beaufort, Browne will ride Nanuk, the runnerup to Leading Ridge in the Enfield Steeplechase on the first day of the meeting.
