A commercial one-hour colour-print processing machine brought out by the Hope Company of the United States uses standard household water and runs from a standard three-pin electric plug. It occupies only 1.6 square metres. Some of the earliest machines of this type needed special power and water and filled a whole shop. * * ♦ Courses in monochrome photography are being offered by the Photographic Training Centre and the Christchurch Polytechnic.
The training centre has two daytime courses for starting photographers during the school holidays, while the polytechnic has an evening and week-end course for more advanced photographers during the third term. The training centre’s courses take the form of workshops, held for the four days, August 26-19, and repeated during September 2-5. Nine students can be accommodated in each workshop. The polytechnic course, which has ten places, operates during eight Tuesday evenings from September 7 with three week-end sessions. En-
rolments for the training centre course are now open, while those for the polytechnic open on August 12. ♦ * ★ An 18-hour evening course on photography and the art of seeing starts on August 20 at the Photographic Training Centre. A lens-mount is now available for Sigma lenses to operate with PKA-mount cameras on programme mode. The distributor is Multi Products, Ltd.
