» DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL y..CHIEF EXECUTIVE With the forthcoming retirement of the Town Clerk and Chief Executive, the City Council proposes to develop further the corporate management structure established in 1983 by appointing a Chief Executive. The emphasis of the new position will be directed towards the overall management of a large multi-function local authority, whilst the statutory and traditional functions of the Town Clerk will be carried out by another senior officer. The Council operates a Directorate System comprising a Chief Executive and four Directors — Community Services, Works, Trading and Administration and Finance. Subject to statutory requirements, and to the overall direction of the City Council, the appointee will be expected to discharge the accountabilities and duties normally undertaken by a Chief Executive in the private sector. Applications are invited from senior executives either in the private, local government or public sectors who feel they have the relevant experience, background and ability to meet the challenge of this position. Remuneration is determined by the Higher Salaries Commission. The level reflects the seniority of the position. Complete confidentiality is assured.
