MAJOR PROJECT MANAGER $0.6 BILLION PROJECT — TWO YEAR CONTRACT — LONGER TERM PROSPECTS New Zealand Steel Development Limited has a joint responsibility to Government and the ultimate client, New Zealand Steel Limited, to effect the five-fold expansion of this steel industry. A Project Manager is required, to be responsible to the General Manager for the successful completion of stage two of the project. This comprises rolling mills and other plant to a total value of $0.6 billion. A major turnkey contract for most of the works is due to be completed later next year. THE JOB The appointee will be expected to: — Act as key client link with the major contractor. — Liaise with the separately appointed engineer to the contract. — Lead a team of specialists, which also has direct responsibility for some SNZSO Million of ancillary work. THE PERSON The successful applicant will have: —- A proven track record with major international contract responsibilities. — A high level of communication and leadership skills. — A suitable tertiary engineering qualification - preferably mechanical or electrical. Knowledge of steel rolling technology would be helpful but is not regarded as essential. THE REWARDS For the right person, there will be no problems negotiating a suitably attractive package. If mutually desired, the appointee could find further career prospects with the ultimate client’s expanded operations.
