Vessel to be patched
PA Auckland Navy salvage experts hope to patch the hull of the bombed Rainbow Warrior today. The Devonport naval dockyard construction manager, Mr Gavin Apperley, said a temporary patch
would be fitted over the hole, which is 1.5 m by 2m. The next step, he said, would be to pump water from the engine room and check the main deck — also holed in several places. Navy experts doubt that the Greenpeace flagship will sail again.
