Ministry to be ‘lean’
PA Auckland The Minister of Consumer Affairs, Mrs Shields, savs she wants her Ministry 'to be “lean and hungry,”'and responsive to community 1 demands. Mrs Shields told a public meeting in South Auckland, recently that it would be ironic if the Ministry of Consumer Affairs became an expensive product not providing the service for which the community was paying. “In setting up the Ministry we are using tax dollars. I want to make absolutely certain we are getting the best value for that money.” Mrs Shields said 'she hoped the Ministry would be established next year. She talked for about three hours with about 40 representatives of South Auckland community groups.
