Pedestrian fatally injured
An elderly man died after being struck by a car while walking across Bower Avenue, North New Brighton, at 10.12 p.m. on Saturday. He was John Raharuhi, aged 73, of Keyes Road, New
Brighton. Mr Raharuhi suffered serious head and leg injuries in the accident. He was taken to Christchurch Hospital where he died yesterday.
A man suffered serious internal injuries after a van he was driving ran off the road and into a ditch at Lineside Road, Flaxton, near Rangiora, on Friday afternoon.
The man, Ogilvie Dawson, aged 51, of Cobra Street, Oaklands, was thrown on to the road in the accident. He was reported in a fairly comfortable condition in Burwood Hospital last evening.
