What’s in a name? Not everything
They would never fit it on the letterhead, but the name of the firm now really should be “Nuts and Bolts and Screws and Rivets and Hacksaw Blades and Drills.” The decision was made six 1 months ago to incorporate the “baby,” South Island Screw and Rivet, Ltd, and in June it moved from its Tuam Street base to join the “father” firm in Falsgrave Street. Nuts and Bolts and Screws’ stock has swelled by 20 per cent with the
merger, and it gives the firm a new speciality — rivets. The drill bits, hacksaw blades and die-cutting gear also bring along their own expert, Mr Dormer Gardner. Mr Gardner had 13 years experience with Patience and Nicholson, Ltd, before joining South Island Screw and Rivet two years ago. He has now become stock controller with responsibility for all buying within New Zealand. _
