Prince masters ride
Riders from as far south as Dunedin competed in the annual Halswell to Lyttelton (via Gebbies Pass and the bays) 48km Borgfeldt Trophy professional cycling road race on Saturday. The Hornby club’s secretary, Roger Prince, riding off llmin., mastered the strong southerly winds and rain better than most to take first place anad second fastest time over all. He was also the fastest veteran. Prince has recently returned from a cycling holiday in Australia.
Stan Turner, aged 14, showed considerable promise as a hill climber in finishing sixth. The fastest time and third place went to John Doherty (smin), who is a brother of the well known scratch rider, Steve Doherty. Results.—. R. Prince (Hornby), 1; P. Cavel (Hornby), 2; J.
