Librarian appointed to post in Auckland
Ms Helen Tait, the deputy Christchurch city librarian, has been appointed the Auckland city librarian. Ms Tait, who will take up her new post in November, was appointed deputy Christchurch city librarian in 1976. Before that she was county librarian to the Waimairi County Council. The president of the Library Association, Ms Tait was an A.N.Z.A.C. fellow in 1976 and received a British Council study grant in 1978. She was involved in the move to the present library premises and in planning the new library, said the city librarian, Mr John Stringleman, yesterday. Mr Stringleman said the Christchurch City Council would advertise for a replacement librarian. Mr Stringleman reported that progress on Stage 1 of the library’s integrated computer system had been delayed. The initial delivery date of July 1 has now been set for October 31.
