‘Tinsel town in the rain’

Greymouth reporter The Hollywood gossip columnist of “The Press,” David Hartnell, will twin city Hollywood with Greymouth. He said during his fourday visit to the town yesterday that plans had been made to link the two centres. He will fly to Hollywood to accept the keys to that city from its Chamber of Commerce. In the meantime he will present the Mayor of Greymouth, Dr Barry Dallas, with a picture of the renowned Hollywood sign on the hills. Below it is a similar photograph with the name Greymouth spread across the Hollywood hills. The picture will be given

to the Public Relations Office in Greymouth and turned into a postcard, the proceeds from which will help fund the office. Mr Hartnell’s visit to the West Coast, made at his own expense, will be seen on the “Tonight” show television programme on Thursday evening. Mr Hartnell said yestersday that he was so impressed with Greymouth that he will return in early November for a week’s holiday and then attend the Greymouth Operatic Society’s world premiere of the musical, “Touch of Grace — a Fairytale Princess,” based on the life of the late Princess Grace of Monaco.
