Theatre closed
PA Auckland An operating theatre at Middlemore Hospital has been closed because of a lack of experienced staff. The acting superintendent. Dr Gay Keating, said the move was not an indication that long-term staff shortages were worsening. She said that under the new system five theatres could be in use simultaneously, instead of six previously. Instead of cancellations of doctors’ theatre lists, the practice for the last 2Yz years, one theatre would be closed permanently, she said.
