N.Z.T.P. launches corporate symbol
PA Wellington The Tourist and Publicity Department marked the adoption of its new corporate symbol with an official launching by the Minister of Tourism, Mr Moore. The symbol has the letters, N.Z.T.P., in a united design of blue and green to symbolise the mountains, bush, and open spaces. Mr Moore said the department’s “shorthand name” probably would become N.Z.T.P. “Departmental branch offices overseas and in New Zealand which have had various different names in the past will all become N.Z.T.P. offices. “The name and the logo will give heavier emphasis to New Zealand which is
appropriate for a promotional body such as this. They will also raise awareness of the department’s full range of activities by consolidating them under a single, highly visible logo,” Mr Moore said. He said the department’s publicity material would include the Miha designed by the Export Institute as the export symbol for New Zealand. “In recent years New Zealand tourism has developed into one of the nation’s leading industries and the New Zealand Tourist and Publicity Department has been actively involved in stimulating this growth,” Mr Moore said. “It needs to be better identified and known to both the domestic
and international travel industries.” N.Z.T.P. promotes New Zealand overseas as a tourist destination, markets internal travel to New Zealanders, and researches the future development of tourism. The department’s three divisions — National Publicity Studios, National Film Unit, and Information and Publicity Services Division — provide an extensive range of publicity services. “While the National Publicity Studios and the National Film Unit will retain their individual logos for their own commercial purposes, they will still identify closely with the N.Z.T.P. symbol,” Mr Moore said.
