New news format
PA Wellington Television’s evening news is to take a new time slot next year, says the Director General of Television, Mr Allan Martin. The news will shift from its existing slot at 6.30p.m.
to 6 p.m. after February 10. Mr Martin says the move has been under consideration for some time. Audience research had reveals more than one million people watched television at 6.00 pm, and this is “the major reason” for the time change.
The hour-long programme will open at 6 p.m. with news headlines, followed by weather information and then the regional programmes. The national and international news will begin at its usual time of 6.30 p.m., he said.
