PA Wellington There were 2292 new dwelling permits issued in May, according to the preliminary estimates of the Government Statistician. This was an increase of 10.2 per cent on the 2079 actual permits issued in May last year. This May’s total for houses of 1576 was up by 11 on last year, but the tally for flats of 716 was 202 ahead of last year. On an annual basis, there were an estimated 22,217 new dwelling permits issued for the year to May, which was 6.1 per cent ahead of the 20,935 issued in the year to May 1984.
