Man rescued from yacht

PA Auckland The crew of a Navy patrol craft yesterday rescued a man from a burning yacht in Rangitoto Channel. The crew of H.M.N.Z.S. Rotoiti, returning to Auckland after exercises in the Bay of Plenty, spotted the burning 10m yacht Tortuga. Nearby was Mr James Cree, of Mairangi Bay, who had

taken to his dinghy. Lieutenant Commander Clive 1 Calkin said that sailors took Mr Cree aboard while others turned hoses and fire extinguishers on the yacht. The police launch Deodar later towed the Tortuga to Westhaven marina. The police said Mr Cree was not injured. The cause of the fire was not known.
