Entire Formica range available from trade centre

Part of the benefit of establishing the new Smith’s City Market trading centre at 119 Montreal Street has been the construction of the large warehouses which can display and store materials. Building necessities such as Formica products, are clearly displayed and easily accessible for all tradesmen and builders coming to the centre. When Formica was first imported from England, more than 30 years ago, the range of colours and finishes was relatively small in comparison to the range available today. The Formica warehouse at the trade centre now houses the entire Formica

range available in New Zealand. These have been carefully selected from the Formica (America) range, which is world-wide. Just as the colour and pattern range has expanded over the years, so too have the applications of Formica, which falls into three main categories: Laminate, Aquapanel, and Beautyboard. The thinnest of the Formica range is the Laminate, at Imm, which is used for surfaces, such as sink benches, table tops and furniture. Aquapanel, a resin-im-pregnated surface which is bonded on to a high density hardboard, is a 4.75 mm thick and is used for wall-

linings such as showers. Beautyboard, which comes in either 16mm or 18mm thickness, is generally used for cabinet work, such as doors, tables, cabinets and furniture. The Beautyboard is a decorative DAP resin impregnated surface which is laminated on to one or both sides of particleboard, or mediumdensity fibreboard, Bisonboard and hardboard. In charge of Formica sales at the Smith’s City Market trade centre is Mr Chris Straker, who is able to give experienced advice to customers. Sheets of Formica can be cut to the required size at the centre warehouse.
