Composer contest winner
PA Wellington A Wellington composer, Michael Vinten, has won the Commercial Union Assurance Young Composers’ Competition. Mr Vinten, aged 28, will receive a cash prize of $5OO and have the chance to have his work, “Ritual Songs,” played by the Wellington Youth Orchestra in September. Mr Vinten’s entry was chosen from a record 21 entries because it possessed “a stamp of authority which set it apart from all the other entries,” a judge said.
