Hiroshima live Radio New Zealand will broadcast live on August 6 a ceremony being held in Auckland to commemorate the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima 40 years ago. The broadcast will include a 15-minute coverage, by direct telephone link, of the annual ceremony in Peace Park, Hiroshima, which takes place at the same time as the bomb fell on the city. The secretary of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, Mr Tom Newnham, said the group was grateful for Radio New Zealand’s cooperation in enabling New Zealand to share the Hiroshima ceremony with billions of people around the world. The ceremony will be broadcast on the National Programme network.
