Squash to Suburbs
Suburbs has the maximum 16 points after the first two weeks of the second round of the women’s open grade interclub squash competition. Last evening Suburbs secured a clean sweep over Christchurch I, though, at No. 3, Raewyn Young had to come back from two games down to beat Agnes Huriwai. In a clear second place is Linwood which surprisingly dropped a match against the promoted Christchurch II side. Gaye Munnerley (Christchurch II), only a Cl, had a meritorious three-game victory over Linwood’s Donna Church, Graded 81. The other team to win on the night was Mount Pleasant which had a 21-1 scoreline against Sumner. Sumner’s only successful player was its national junior representative, Justine Marriott, back after being sidelined for two weeks because of injury. She overcame Carolyn Viggers, 3-0, and showed pleasing form. Back to boost Mount Pleas-
ant’s campaign was the wellperformed Merle Holland, who employed some deft drops in her 3-1 win over Saskia O’Brien.
