The Alcohol and Drug Assessment and Rehabilitation Centre co-ordinates alcohol assessment and rehabilitation services in Timaru. It provides, in a community setting, assessment, referral and treatment services, consultative and educational services to community agencies and board staff, public education and training opportunities to health professionals. Applicants should preferably have a health professional qualification with training and experience In alcohol problems. The appointee will be responsible for helping hospital board staff to define their Information processing requirements, suggesting design alternatives, evaluating software packages and in some cases implementing data processing procedures. The range of work is broad, from business systems with a medical element to more scientlflc/technlcal applications. We envisage the successful applicant will have a degree, majoring in computer science and 3 to 4 years experience in analysis and programming. The person will be self-motivated and show good interpersonal and analytical skills. SENIOR SCIENTIST The Division of Scientific Services at Waikato Hospital requires a Senior Scientist. The appointee will be responsible for a range of activities with respect to patient related equipment; planning for its purchase and installation, to advise on its use, assessment of function and maintenance. The Senior Scientist will deputise for the Chief Scientist. The successful applicant must be a graduate of a recognised university with major subjects in physics or electronics engineering or closely related subjects. Applicants should have qualifications above bachelors level and substantial experience in the application of physical science to medicine. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to manage sclentlflc/technlcal staff would also be an advantage.
