WAITAKI CATCHMENT COMMISSION AND REGIONAL WATER BOARD ENGINEERING OFFICER THE JOB To undertake and supervise the Commission’s river control operations in the Upper Waitaki under the direction of the Chief Engineer and other such operations as directed by the General Manager. This is a new position and the appointee will be domiciled in Twizel. THE PERSON Working in isolation from the rest of the Commsission staff will demand both reliable self motivation and a clear ability to communicate with the operations engineer, wage workers, contractors and staff of other agencies. The incumbent will enjoy outdoor work but will also be able to methodically manage office work on their own. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE N.Z.C.E. (Civil) or equivalent. The incumbent will require a minimum of eight years experience which should include works programming, contract supervision, heavy plant operation, forestry operations and personnel management. Safety Supervisior Certificate will be required. Salary range $18,277 - $24,708 per annum. SPECIALIST TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE The imeumbent will require at least ten years experience Including logging, heavy plant operation (i.e. capable of operating a D 9), piling, man power organisation and supervision, reading, fencing, water supply, explosives, herbicides, noxious animals and fire fighting.
