Situations Vacant Situations Vacant MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS GRADUATES Department of Statistics THE MATHEMATICAL STATISTICS DIVISIONS of the Department of Statistics are recruiting graduates for their research teams in Wellington and Christchurch. The Divisions undertake a wide variety of investigatory and development work. Current projects include: — Design of sample surveys, e.g. the N.Z. Labour Force Survey; — analysis of survey data; — statistical modelling to assist economic and. social policy analysis, e.g. GST incidence studies; — statistical quality control; and — research into new survey design and data analysis techniques. Applicants must have a B.Sc. or a B.A. in mathematics or statistics as a minimum tertiary qualification. While units in statistics would be an advantage, successful applicants will receive training in the required specialist sampling and analysis methods. The Mathematical Statistics Divisions have online access to the department’s IBM mainframe computers, and the programming and statistical analysis system SAS is used for data management, analysis and reporting.
