Bill rates ease

Interest rates eased marginally on last week’s rates in yesterday’s $l2O million Treasury bill tender. The two tenders were not strictly comparable, as the maturities differed from week to week. However, yesterday’s top rate of 22 per cent was the same as that of last week, and the weighted average was slightly lower. Dealers again bid strongly, tendering $245 million for the $l2O million offered. The $5O million 21-day bills attracted bids of $96 million; the successful yields were 20.88 to 22 per cent, with the weighted average 21.264 per cent. The unsuccessful bids were at yields of 22 to 22.47 per cent. Last week’s weighted average was 21.76 per cent for 28day bills. $149 million was bid for the $7O million 63-day bills on offer, and the successful yields ranged from 20.59 to 22 per cent, with a weighted average of 21.337 per cent. The unsuccessful bids were at yields of 22 to 22.87 per cent.
