Arts festival planned
Holme Station, in South Canterbury, will provide a rural setting for a three-day arts festival early next year. Tentative plans for the festival, to be held from February 7 to 9, were announced last evenThey include a formal
Maori welcome and cultural performance, wine-tasting, ballet, puppet shows, poetry and music. Guided bus tours will be provided to places of historical interest, such as McKenzies Pass, St Marks Church in Otipua and the sites of Maori rock drawings. Festival organisers plan
to erect a marquee with seating for 400, a stage and a covered walkway from the marquee to the Holme Station homestead. An interdenominational church service will be held on the Sunday morning and the festival will end with an evening of dancing in the homestead.
