District forecasts; Canterbury: Moderate, variable winds; fine and cool. Marlborough: Moderate, cool southerlies at first with a few coastal showers, otherwise fine with the winds becoming light.

Nelson: Fine and cool with south-west winds fresh at times. Buller, Westland: Fine and cool with light or moderate variable winds. Extended forecast to Friday: A change to cooler southerlies and showers on Friday in Canterbury; fine with north-westerlies from tomorrow in Marlborough and Nelson; cooler southerlies and fine of the coast.
