Drop us a line

A call from a Christchurch man who has an intermittent problem of distortion on one section of the picture when viewing prerecorded tapes prompts some general advice. It does not pay to jump to conclusion that it is the television or the VCR at fault. Some simple tests should be followed to eliminate possibilities before rushing off to the service centre. These include trying a second tape to see if the problem reappears; use of the tracking control on the VCR; adjustment of the vertical sync if this is included on the unit; trying the same tape and your VCR with another television set; and checking that all the controls are correctly set on both the video and the television.

If you have a story to share or would like help with a problem, drop us a line or give us a call. Graham Parker and Avene Flannery, P.O. Box 24-076, East Linwood, Christchurch. Telephone 810-925, 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. week days.
