New N.Z. series
Television New Zealand will begin videotaping a new 16 episode drama series, “The Seekers,” in Wellington this month. The long-running New Zealand drama “Country G.P.” comes to an end on July 15 and “The Seekers” will take its 7.30p.m. Mondays on One time-slot on September 2, after a short series of “The Irish R.M.” The producer, Brian Bell, says-. “The Seekers” is about Maggie Settler (played by Bridget Armstrong) and her three children, Nadia Alterman (played by Jenny Ward-Lealand), Selwyn Broadhead (Temuera Morrison) and Ben Godward (Kerry McKay). “In the sixties Maggie was sort of an early swinger and she made a decision to give birth to a tribe of children fathered by different, brilliant sires. “But after having three
she decided the whole business was a bit trying and got married and went to the United States. “She had the children adopted out, but managed to keep track of them and 20 years later she comes back to New Zealand and arranges for the three of them to come together, though they, of course, don’t know that they’re half brothers and sisters and that she is their mother. “She tricks out of them their ambitions, what they would like to have accomplished in six months. And she manipulates them into attempting to achieve their aims by offering a big prize.” Bell, who is also responsible for the original story idea, says that though “The Seekers” is a drama it has many other elements, including comedy and mystery.
