Speed on film?

PA Auckland The Government will consider a report on an automatic camera and radar system which is proving successful on roads in Victoria, Australia.

The Minister of Transport, Mr Prebble, said last evening that such devices had been installed at dangerous intersections where speed had been a major factor in accidents. The radar activated the camera if a vehicle’s speed was above the speed limit, he said. Mr Prebble, who had just returned from a meeting of state and Federal Transport Ministers in Australia, said his Victorian counterpart had promised to give him a report on the system. “It is clearly something I think we should have a look at,” he said.
