Man strapped to bed for 9 months
NZPA-AP Naples, Florida A man was tied up and strapped to a bed for nine months while a nursing aide who allegedly abducted him cashed SUS6O,OOO ($127,000) of his cheques and stock certificates, the police said. Warren Hastings, aged 81, of Naples, was finally found in the back of a van by the police in Brewton, Alabama. He scrawled, “Oh God, yes,” on a pad of paper when asked if he was being held
against his will. Mr Hastings had been held without his hearing aid, crutches, and lower teeth, according to the Collier County sheriff. During most of his captivity he was prevented from wearing anything but a shirt, he said. Mr Hastings was shifted from place to place and forced to sign blank cheques, according to the investigating officer.
