Doubt over Bell
It might not be known until Wednesday whether Dean Bell will be able to take his place in the Kiwi back-line for the third rugby league test against Australia at Auckland on Sunday. Bell suffered a knee injury attempting to tackle the Australian centre, Chris Close, with 22 minutes left in yesterday’s second test. He was carried from the field on a stretcher and replaced by Joe Ropati. The New Zealand selectors have retained the same 15 players from yesterday’s match and added the Auckland outside back, Mark Elia, to cover the doubt over Bell. Elia was a replacement in the first test at Brisbane.
The Kiwi squad is: Gary Kemble, Dane O’Hara, Dean Bell, Mark Elia, Joe Ropati, James Leuluai, Gary Prohm, Olsen Filipaina, Clayton Friend, Kevin Tamati, Kurt Sorensen, Mark Graham, Hugh McGahan, Ricky Cowan, Owen Wright.
