Key Splendour back again

A ship which arrived at Lyttelton in May to unload cases of turbine parts for the Clyde dam is back again, this time to pick up a shipment of coal. The Key Splendour arrived at port on Saturday and since then has been a centre of activity at the coal-loading berth, Cashin Quay No. 1. She is taking on 18,000 tonnes of coal from Greymouth and Reefton for factories in Japan. The 11,368-ton Key Splendour is expected to sail for Japan this morning. She is the third coal ship to call at Lyttelton this month. The other vessels were the Spraynes and the Kamagong, which loaded 36,000 tonnes, the biggest shipment of the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s financial year. The Key Splendour which was launched only this year, last sailed from Lyttelton on May 28. Four of the cases of turbine parts she unloaded then weighed more than 50 tonnes each.
