Will Princess Anne audition for ‘Dallas’?

After many years off the screen Doris Day has negotiated with the producers of “Dallas” because she is interested in joining the cast. The “Dallas” producers are also after Princess Anne to appear as herself in a small, cameo part next season. That would be good for the show ratings. Joan Collins is too much. She has hired a full-time security guard to watch over her rubbish. She was upset when some of her private letters turned up for sale, then she saw a person going through her rubbish and that was it. Now she has a guard and has bought a paper shredder. Barbra Streisand has bought herself a house in Jerusalem for $275,000. She and her latest boyfriend, Richard Baskin, will use it as a religious retreat. President Reagan’s son, Michael, is to follow his father to Hollywood and is taking acting lessons. I hope that he does a little better than his father’s B grade movies.

By the way, if you are a “Dynasty” fan you will not want to miss a new book about the show. It is called “Dynasty” and is the authorised biography of the Carringtons. It has just arrived in New Zealand and it is one of the best books I have seen about any television show. It is a real A-Z on the entire cast. Brooke Shields looks as if she may get the role in the television movie about the life of Gene Tierney. She thinks the role would let her show off her talents as a real actress.

The beautiful French actress, Catherine Deneuve, has filed a $12,000 lawsuit against a publisher in Paris because he put out an unauthorised book on her life, recalling a few things that she would like to have forgotten. Olivia Newton-John’s hubby, Matt Lattanzi, is to play Frank Sinatra .as a young man in a television movie. Sinatra will play himself as he is today. The movie will be produced by his daughter, and his former wife will direct. Talk about keeping it all in the family! Gina Lollobrigida is all set to appear on “Falcon Crest” again next season. It is possible that she will get a spin-off series of her own playing the character Francesca.

Jeanne Cooper is now the longest running character in the soapie “The Young and the Restless.” She has played the role of Katherine Chancellor for the past 10 years. She loves the part and has had a lot of fun with it, but she told me that the best part of all is having the show’s costume designer make all the beautiful gowns for her. Larry Hagman always keeps a gun concealed in a hollowed-out book beside his bed. He has done this since his Malibu neighbourhood was plagued by robberies a few years ago. He has not had to use it to date. “Dallas” star, Morgan Brittany, and her stuntman husband, Jack Gill, are expecting their first baby next month. She will be taking

time off the soapie after the baby is born. It is good timing because the show goes off the air around about that time.

Mr T. is launching a range of hair products on the United States market next month. The mind boggles. Remember the “Patty Duke Show?” Now she is facing the biggest challenge of her life. She is starring in the A.8.C.-TV series called “Hail to the Chief.” She plays the role of the first woman President in the United States. She has just divorced her husband, John Astin, after 13 years of marriage. They have two children.

If you send the actress Katharine Hepburn a fan letter, you had better make sure that y° ur spelling is 100 per cent. I hear that she is now returning letters with all the spelling mistakes corrected. Beware, also, if you are an artist. She has been known to reject portraits of herself as artistically unsatisfactory. I am the world’s worst speller so I must never drop her a line.
