Botanist receives trophy
A botanist at the University of Canterbury, Dr L. G. Greenfield, has been awarded the Antarctic Society’s annual conservation trophy. The trophy is presented to a person or organisation making a significant contribution to some aspect of conservation in the Antarctic or sub-Antarctic. The contribution can be in the area of flora and fauna, buildings, artefacts, or natural features. Dr Greenfield’s studies have included soil, sediment, moss, algae, and small plants. He has also been concerned with the risks of pollution in the Antarctic.
