CHRISTIANS FOR LIFE FUND FOR LIFE BECAUSE A FEW pro-abortion certifying consultants have incredibly high approval rates we have had an “abortion on demand” crisis situation here in Christchurch for several years. Pro-abortionists say that every woman is entitled to an abortion, totally disregarding the criteria set down in the law. The law never intended that every woman should have an abortion because it recognises that unborn children have rights. Unfortunately it neglects to define these rights, basic to all human beings whatever their age, therefore fails to protect one of the most vulnerable groups. If the pro-abortion lobby cared more for women and were motivated ’.ess by their extremist views they would publicly warn women to avoid self-inducing methods and back-street abortionists, to protect their lives. Instead, Family Planning, THAW (The Health Alternative for Women) and ALRANZ (Abortion Law Reform Association), have irresponsibly declared that these rates will increase, thereby promoting them as alternatives. In reality, the only alternative they offer women with unwanted pregnancies is death for the unborn child and a physical and emotional trauma leaving life-long scars for women. Christians for Life are estalishing a Fund for Life, to constructively help women continue with unwanted pregnancies, offering in addition to other support groups the only safe realistic health alternative. Perhaps the thousands of childless couples desperately waiting for children to adopt will join with others to “give that they will grow.” Women must accept that they are not automatically entitled to abortion, and never will be. Abortion discriminates between two lives and whenever one person’s life is threatened, society must intervene or we would have anarchy. The public hospital system cannot cope with abortion on demand and shouldn’t be obliged to give priority to abortion cases ahead of all other services, some of which involve life threatening conditions. Continuing an unwanted pregnancy is not life threatening. It is interesting to note that statistics show in other countries where abortion is now freely available, the back-street abortion rate has remained the same: it has not declined. Recent media news reports mention that doctors are afraid of being harassed by pro-life picketers and therefore are reluctant to perform abortions in Christchurch. We cannot in absolute truth claim to inspire such imaginative fear. Our quiet educational demonstrations outside doctors’ consulting rooms have done more to educate the public by showing that an unborn child or foetus is a human individual entitled to the same God given rights we all enjoy. We have not to date demonstrated outside doctors’ homes, certainly not their children’s schools! The credit really belongs to the doctors themselves who are becoming more reluctant for the public to view them in the abortionist role. It is a slur on their esteemed profession to support the cruel methods of aborting unborn children as portrayed in the film “Silent Scream.” Typically pro-abortionists attempt to discredit our factual educational material to dissuade people viewing it and judging for themselves. It is heartwarming to find that people are no longer satisfied with the pro-abortion-ists’ half truths and lies. “FUND FOR LIFE” donations can be sent to: Christians for Life, P.O.
