Recovery for some airlines
NZPA-PA London The world’s airlines collectively made a profit in 1984, for the first time in six years. The 137 airlines of the International Air Transport Association reported in Geneva a combined profit of $l.ll billion for last year compared with a $670 million loss in 1983.
Several airlines, including British Airways and Lufthansa, made big profits but many in South America and Africa announced huge losses.
