Lottery

A national lottery will be held in August to help make up for the poor total in this year’s Crippled Children Society appeal. Only $87,000 was collected in Canterbury and the West Coast, compared to $107,000 last year. A New Zealand-wide lottery should bring in between $25,000 and $30,000 for the Canterbury-West Coast branch of the society if all tickets were sold, said the branch president, Mr Mervyn Radford.
