Pope to visit Africa
NZPA-AP Vatican City Pope John Paul II will return to Africa for the third time, making a 12-day visit to seven African countries starting on August 8. A brief Vatican announcement said that he would visit Togo, the Ivory Coast, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Zaire, Kenya, and Morocco. John Paul has made 26
foreign trips since he became Pope in October, 1978. In May, 1980, he toured Zaire, Ghana, Congo, Kenya, Bourkina Fasso, and the Ivory Coast. On the second trip, in February, 1982, he visited Gabon, Nigeria, Benin, and Equatorial Guinea. Earlier this month the Pope visited the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxemburg.
