Appeal fails
PA Wellington The Racing Conference yesterday upheld the decision of the Canterbury District sub-committee in demoting Been Burgled from first at the Waimate meeting on March 12. The appeal by the owner of Been Burgled, Mr E. B. Gray, stemmed initially from a decision by the Waimate judicial committee to promote Been Burgled from second to first and relegate Walden Pond, which was first past the post, to second. That decision was subsequently reversed by a subcommittee of the Canterbury District Committee and it was from that move that the appeal to the Racing Conference arose.
The conference appeal judges decided that the Canterbury sub-committee had been correct in finding that any interference had not affected the chances of Been Burgled.
