OHL marks $1M with 1:4 bonus
PA Wellington OHL Corporation, Ltd, has announced its first million dollar profit as well as declaring a one-for-four bonus issue and a share split. The profit of the optics manufacturing company was up 55 per cent to $1,019,605 ($782,729) for the year to March 31. Sales increased 34 per cent to $10,585,917 ($7,920,383). Tax was $552,677 ($230,286). OHL said the comparative figures for last year had been adjusted to exclude the sales and profits of the two Australian subsidiaries which were sold on April 1, 1984. The equity accounted profit of subsidiary companies previously consolidated amounted to $18,328. Return on average shareholders funds was 31 per cent. The final dividend will be 5c a share (10 per cent), making 20 per cent for the year. The one-for-four bonus issue will not qualify for the final dividend, but will rank equally thereafter. Directors expect to maintain the same dividend rate on the increased capital. The directors are also recommending the par value of shares be halved from 50c to 25c. glass range under the brand name “Luigi”, as well as continuing on with the success of Le Specs, Solavoid Indescratchables and Le Tan.
