Valdee works in style at Woodville
Special correspondent Palmerston North Valdee showed he had trained on well since his Masterton success when he galloped solidly at Woodville yesterday morning. Among the Wanganui entries, Native Belle and Acupuncture pleased most. Fast work was held on the middle of the course proper, which was easy. Valdee ran from the 1200 m in 1:24.0. He was joined by Eastern Ruler before the 600 m and ran from there in 39.15. Valdee may have his next run in the Manawatu Steeplechase. Eastern Ruler ran his 1200 m in 1:21.4, the final 600 m in 38.95. Native Belle finished ahead of Ezra Brown, which had the heavier weight, over 1000 m in 1:7.5, the final 600 m in 40.55. Native Belle was a sound third at Woodville ip January in her only I.'
race to date and, with Maree Lyndon up, rates highly in the Grange Maiden tomorrow. Acupuncture ran 1400 m in 1:37.4, the 1200 m in 1:22.6 and final 600 m in 39.65. He is in the Westmere Maiden at Wanganui and next week he is likely to try for his qualifying ticket as a hurdler. Flight to Reno and Remus’es Flight ran 1000 m in 1:6.0, the final 600 m in 40.35. Janeiro and a Sovereign Edition filly ran 600 m in 39.45. Borr’owdale completed 1200 m in 1:25.9, the last 600 m in 41.95. Burnemoff ran the last 1200 m of his work in 1:20.6. doing his work well over the last 600 m in 40.45.
