Candidate withdraws

Mr S. D. Edge (Banks Peninsula) has withdrawn as a candidate for a South Island seat on the executive of the Trotting Conference. There are now four candidates for three seats — Messrs V. C. Anngow (Dunedin), M. C. Bailey (Rangiora), B. B. Woods (New Brighton) and L. W. J. Woods (Banks Peninsula). All but Mr Bailey are retiring members. Voting papers including Mr Edge’s name have been sent to clubs, some of which

have already returned them. There is no provision in the Rules of Trotting to cover the withdrawal of a candidate from an election after voting papers have been distributed. In the meantime the election is continuing and the conference is seeking a legal ruling on the subject.
