Sir, — We were almost tempted not to reply to M. A. Spark’s letter (May 28), because it was in such bad taste we thought for a while it must have been a joke. Being realistic though, we realise that many men find the topic of sexual harassment an excellent topic for joviality. They, and your obviously male correspondent, can well afford to make trivial the countless women and girls who are raped, harassed or otherwise abused because they will never be subjected to such treatment. Many readers may consider that we are being too sensitive about the issue and should take such letters as a joke but you only have to look through the paper every morning and read about women abused, here and overseas, to know that the topic is far from laughable. — Yours, etc., RUTH HENDERSON, CATHY SWEET.
