All Whites beat central side
An impressive first half performance was enough to carry the New Zealand soccer team to a 2-0 win over a central region side in Wanganui last night. Both goals came before half-time. Andy Deeley scored the first, in the twenty-third minute, after a defensive error, and Duncan Cole got the second, capitalising on a poor back pass by the central region defender, Kevin Nash. Colin Tuaa and Peter Henry shone for the All
Whites in the first half, but were replaced at half-time. With their departure much of the spark went out of the New Zealand performance and the second half was generally disappointing.
The central region came into the match in the second half, with Bill Harris. Bruce McLachlan and David Fagaloa all coming close to scoring. The All Whites begin a three-match series against Fiji in Mount Maunganui next Monday.
