Hockey appeal receives boost
The appeal for the artificial hockey surface at Porritt Park received a substantial boost when it was launched at the week-end. At a launch dinner at the Town Hall on Saturday evening it was announced that Skellerup Industries has made a donation of $5OOO to the fund and that Merritt Homes, Ltd, has donated $lOOO. In addition, there was a
personal donation of $lOOO and the dinner is expected to contribute another $l5OO. The Canterbury members of the New Zealand women’s squad, who attended a training session in Wellington at the week-end, passed the hat around and raised $2lO for the appeal, and the Canterbury colts team, which was also in Wellington last week at the national tournament, contributed $lOO.
