Franklin meeting included in rider’s busy schedule

Special corresponoent Auckland The Takanini jockey, Peter Johnson, will be held to a tight schedule at Pukekohe today. Johnson has several engagements at the Franklin Racing Club’s meeting, but the last of them needs to be Golden Fuego in the first leg of the T.A.B. double, the Kingsbridge Handicap. Immediately after the race Johnson will be on his way to Auckland Airport for a flight to Brisbane where he is booked to ride All Glory in the Q.T.C. Sires’ Produce Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday. Johnson will return home on Sunday to ride at Ellerslie on Queen’s Birthday and on the third day of the Auckland meeting the next Saturday. All going well he will be back in Brisbane again immediately after Ellerslie’s third day to ride All Glory again in the Castlemaine Stakes. A last-start winner over 2100 m at Te Rapa on May 11, after a fourth placing in the Oaks at Ellerslie, Golden Fuego looks a top prospect for today’s race. Hardest for her to beat should be Sirex and Diamond Reef. La Renarde, another three-year-old filly trained on the course, makes most appeal in the second leg, the Gold Room Handicap.
