Jendra fools trainer
Special correspondent Hastings
Jendra surprised her trainer, Vicki Green, at the Hastings track yesterday morning, running a deceptive 800 m on the course proper. The Sabratel mare did not appear to be going very fast in her solo workout, prompting Green to comment that the time would be slow. But the clock was stopped at 49.4 s for the full distance, the last 600 m in a fast 37.75. “She must have been going a lot faster than I thought,” said Green. Jendra is preparing for
the Wanganui meeting this week-end. She is entered for the Radio 2ZW 4000 over 1360 m on Saturday and may then step up to a middle distance on the second day, on Monday. Any rain will serve to enhance her chances.
Galloping at the Hastings track yesterday morning was carried out on the plough (soft) and course proper (easy).
Exocet was let off with just three-quarter pace over a circuit on the No. 1 grass, coming home the last 800 m in 58s and the final 600 m in 42.95. He looks to have done well since running second in
the Foxton Fries Cup and is another going to Wanganui this week-end. Nevada Prince and Supreme Eulogy looked to be working well at the end of 800 m on the course proper in 51.55, the last 600 m in 395.
Apache Lass took 39.8 s for 600 m on the plough. She failed to fire at Masterton last Saturday, but should be kept on side next time she strikes a heavy track.
Mr Flash took Imin 5.8 s for 1000 m on the course proper, the last 600 m in 40s, while Brazen Fellow ran 800 m in 53.85, the last 600 m in 41.65.
