Mr Warwick Bishop (left) has been appointed general manager of AWA New Zealand, Ltd. He succeeds Mr Eric Pernase (right), who died on May 18. Mr Bishop joined the company in 1964 after graduating from Canterbury University with a degree Ln electrical engineering. After three years in AWA’s research and design laboratories in Australia and New Zealand, he was appointed manufacturing manager in charge of the New Zealand design and production facility. Mr Bishop was appointed assistant general manager in 1974, with responsibility for
the development, manufacture and marketing of the company’s communications, data and marine groups. Mr Pernase worked tirelessly to establish a local electronics industry. Mr Pernase's work with electronics began in 1939 when he enrolled at the Marconi School of Radio in Sydney. He joined the small branch operated in New Zealand by AWA in 1944, and became general manager in 1955. At that time, AWA employed only 10 people. He guided the company through its formative years and into many fields.
